Mexico’s flags without shields in Paraguay
Last Thursday January 18, the Mexican president Enrique Peña Nieto visited the Independence House in Paraguay where he received the key of the city of Asunción. Later in the “Palacio de los López”, Horacio Cartes received Peña Nieto with flags that were shieldless.
In addition to that, during the official welcome ceremony the Mexican national anthem was played inharmoniously.
Rolando Mendoza, the chief of government protocol in company of Eduardo Sánchez, the spokesman of the president, explained that neither flag had shields because they were used as decoration so they wouldn’t be disrespectful, and said that the CD of the national anthem was provided by the Mexican embassy in Asunción with which was used to practice the anthem.
